The Palmetto Concert Band is approaching a major milestone anniversary. In 2024, we will celebrate our 25th Anniversary. The Palmetto Concert Band was founded in 1999 with the goal of a performance at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago. Since its inception, the band has performed 3 times at the Midwest Clinic, in 1999 as the finale concert, in 2008, and again in 2016. To celebrate this milestone, a consortium has been formed to commission a work for symphonic band to be composed by Jay Bocook. The work will be approximately 6 minutes in length and use standard concert band instrumentation.
We will have two levels for Institutions/ensembles to become members of the consortium. For a donation of $250, institutions/ensembles will be listed in the score as consortium members. For a donation of $500, institutions will also receive a full score and set of parts in PDF format, complimentary copy of the published version from Hal Leonard and exclusive performance rights following the premiere in December 2024. Individuals are also invited to join the consortium and be listed in the score for a donation of $100. All donations must be received by February 18, 2024.
The commissioned work will be published by Hal Leonard. The published version of the commissioned work may not be identical to the premiered work; minor adjustments, cueing, and other small technicalities may be made to ensure the overall playability of the final version of the work by the public. The integrity of the work should not be affected by the small differences.
